Cookies and Fire Candy

Best Chocolate Chip Cookies... EVER

1 c. crisco
1/3 c. butter
1 c. sugar
1 c. brown sugar
2 eggs
2 t. vanilla
3 1/2 c. flour
1/2 t salt
1 t. soda
tons of chocolate chips

Mix wet and dry ingredients seperate. Mix together and put on cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 5-8 minutes. They should look a little underdone, but don't worry, food keeps cooking for a few minutes even after you take it out of the over...enjoy!

Fire Candy

2 c. sugar
1/2 c. Karo syrup
1/2 c. cold water
2 t cinnamon oil
red food coloring

Mix in a saucepan until it reaches hard crack stage (grab a cup with ice water and drizzle the boiling candy into the cup, when it hardens on contact it is ready! Will take 10-20 minutes to reach hard crack stage) Pour into a buttered pan and then sprinkle powedered sugar on top!

This afternoon I had Natalie, Neil and Erika over to make Fire Candy and Cookies. Natalie decided to make the fire candy green for Christmas, and it was really really green. I'm going to add the recipes to the blog. Neil stuffed an entire cookie in his mouth all at once and Natalie kept stretching the fire candy into string. It was an easy day at the Clark house!
